PROFILE OF THE NEW GM GAS DEVELOPMENT DIVISION

The GM, GAS DEVELOPMENT DIVISION, NAPIMS.
Mr. Bassey Essiet

Mr. Bassey Essiet is the new General Manager Gas Development Division in the National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS), a Corporate Services Unit in the Upstream Autonomous Business Unit (ABU) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

He holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Hons. Eng) in Petroleum Engineering from the prestigious Nigerian Premier University � University of Ibadan.

He joined the services of NNPC in 1991 as a Reservoir Engineer and was posted to Integrated Data Services Limited (IDSL), a subsidiary of NNPC, based in Benin, Edo State.

By dint of hard work, he rose through the ranks to become a Deputy Manager in 2006, after successfully scaling through the Chief Officers� Management Promotional Examination in flying colours.

Thereupon, he was posted to NAPIMS as the Deputy Manager, Health Safety and Environment (DM, HSE) NAPIMS. In 2009, he sat and passed the Management Promotional Exam and became a full Manager which warranted his movement from HSE Department to another Division in NAPIMS: He was made Manager, Petroleum Engineering, Joint Venture Oil Operations in NAPIMS.

He was in this position till 2019, when he was appointed the General Manager, Planning and Business Development, Downstream Autonomous Business Unit (ABU). It was from there he received his latest posting back to NAPIMS as the GM, Gas Development Division.

Mr. Essiet comes to this new responsibility with in-depth and robust experience of the workings in the Oil and Gas Industry, having operated for a reasonable time in the Upstream and Downstream Sectors of the Oil and Gas value chain.

In the course of his career in NNPC, he has made several invaluable contributions that have facilitated the ease of service delivery in NNPC.

This unassuming but very creative Engineer, singlehandedly, designed and delivered a technical package on Initial Professional development Scheme for young professionals, the first of its kind, which was adopted as a standard going forward for all fresh entry staff to pass through in the NNPC.

A team player, he was part of the Project Team that delivered ExxonMobil ERHA Project for Nigeria, just to mention a few.

As a consummate professional, Mr. Essiet belongs to several professional bodies including the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).

His hobbies are swimming and reading
